Who am I?

I am an English teacher and an American citizen living and working in Istanbul. I have been residing and working at private high schools in Istanbul for the past 10 years. I have a current teaching certificate in ELA for grade 6-12. I have worked around the world and have a true love of travel and education.

I have teaching experience in ESL and ELA in Turkey as well as internationally. My experience ranges greatly as I have moved around and experienced different areas of education, but found my niche in teaching ELA to middle and high school students. I have other experiences in work such as: teaching at a university in Japan, teaching business/adult/test ESL in Turkey and remotely, teaching and coaching swimming in Australia and USA, running outdoor education trips for teens through the YMCA of USA, and being an Americorps Member in the Making Assets a Priority Program.

As mentioned, I have a love of education and have completed 3 degrees. I have a Bachelor of Arts from University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Teaching from University of Western Sydney and have recently completed another Master's of Education that focused on Globalization in Education from Moreland University.

I hope to empower and encourage students through student centered learning and hope to nurture their love of learning to be future global citizens that recognize and understand our ever changing world and how they can be an active part of our future. My education motto is that students and teachers alike should strive to be life long learners!
